Massachusetts also "fires" (blanks, of course) her 5"/38s several times each year. I was aboard her one year and watched (and heard) them firing mount #10, starboadr side, aft most mount. Ed

out of the ten mounts i think about half if not all are in firing condition I know the dock side ones alternate in firings 2 -10 yes thar ceromony is quite the thing it Starts with a series of taps...
